Center for Climate and Energy Solutions

The Pew Center on Global Climate Change is part of the larger body known as The Pew Charitable Trusts, which is a non-profit research and development think-tank aimed at improving policy and informing the public. The Pew Center on Global Climate Change is dedicated to the same ideals, but with the specific goal of applying them to climate change.

The Pew Center on Global Climate Change was founded in 1998 and continued in its work until 2011 at which point it gave rise to the Center for Climate and Energy Solution (C2ES), which carries forth the mission today.

C2ES was instrumental in convincing American business that investment in green energy and other methods of mitigating climate change were in its best interests. The result of that work was the Business Environmental Leadership Council (BELC), which is made up of 40 companies that have combined revenue of over $2 trillion. This and other industry impact earned the C2ES the designation of world’s “top environmental think tank” in 2009.

During the years between 1998 and the present, C2ES has published around 100 peer-reviewed reports and has testified before the United States Congress. The organization prides itself not only on its attention to cutting edge science, but on its development of practical policy for mitigating climate change.
